Book Issue
Publishing works on land, agrarian affairs, and spatial planning in the form of books is one of the main activities under the management of UPA Publishing and Publication. Before the establishment of UPA Publishing and Publication, publications at STPN were managed directly by STPN Press. STPN Press itself has started the production of works on land, agrarian affairs, and spatial planning since 2008. It was started by the publictaion of three books in 2008 and eventually increased in the following years until 2020 to 5-8 books every year. The first three books published by STPN Press were Awakening of Agrarian Reform Studies in the 21st Century, a translation of a book by Henry Bernstein et al.; Agrarian Reform: The Dynamics of Actors and Regions, a translation of a book by Peter Rosset et al.; and Pemberdayaan Setengah Hati: Sub Ordinasi Masyarakat Lokal dalam Pengelolaan Hutan written by one of STPN’s academic community members. The books published by STPN Press are not for sale. Most of these books can be downloaded for free through its website. The accessibility of books published by STPN Press is expected to be able to further encourage the widespread dissemination of selected agrarian works.
STPN Press is also committed to maintain the quality of every book published through a manuscript review process. Authors who have works or manuscripts within the scope of land, agrarian affairs, and spatial planning are welcome to send a complete application along with the manuscript of the book to STPN Press by email. The review process serves to provide enrichment to the books to be published so that the related books can truly show the best quality of the authors. STPN Press’s role in presenting its selected agrarian works can be seen through the citation profile on Google Scholar. As of December 2021, among the books published by STPN Press which have the highest citations are: 1) Masalah Agraria sebagai Masalah Penghidupan Rakyat Indonesia; 2) Seluk Beluk Masalah Agraria dan Penelitian Agraria; 3) Filosofi, Asas, Ajaran, Teori Hukum Pertanahan dan Agraria; 4) Konstitusionalisme Agraria; and 5) Kembali ke Agraria.
